One Month In

GIM crossed one month with this group on September 2nd. Since the last update ("Three Weeks In," three weeks ago), 115 more updates have shipped in 12 days — on top of the 90+ from before that. Here's what's new since then.

Native iOS and Android apps

GIM now has real native apps for iOS and Android too — installable, with their own icon, splash screen, and push notifications wired through Firebase. Both are built and in final testing before we roll them out to this group. Alongside that, Health Connect (Android) and HealthKit (iOS) are wired up as new activity sources — if your watch already writes to your phone's health app, GIM should be able to read it directly, laps and heart rate included. That part's ready but hasn't been tested against a real Apple Watch or Google Pixel Watch yet — if you're on either and want to help test it, let me know.

A full recovery and wellness picture

This was built in five phases and is genuinely new territory for GIM:

  • Readiness signal — resting heart rate, HRV, VO2max, and sleep, pulled from your watch/phone and shown as a trend, not just a number
  • Weekly wellness check-ins — energy and soreness, with recurring-soreness detection that flags a pattern before it becomes an injury
  • Long-run fueling log — track carbs/fluids/protein intake on your longer sessions
  • Body composition and lab check-ins — weight, body fat %, and lab values, kept private to you alone (not even your coach or GIM's admin can see the raw numbers — only a flag, if one's warranted)
  • Flag resolution tracking — when something you self-reported clears up, GIM notices, and Gimo can tell you the story of how it resolved, not just that it happened

COROS support

If you're on a COROS watch, you can now connect it the same way you'd connect Strava — per-user authorization, nothing polled without your consent. Activities (with full laps, GPS, and heart-rate data) and daily readiness sync automatically every 15–30 minutes. Settings → Connect COROS.

Real multi-mentor support

Under the hood, GIM now properly supports multiple coaches, each with their own isolated roster — this lays the groundwork as GIM grows beyond one mentor. If you're a coach, nothing changes day to day; if you're an admin, you can now switch between viewing any mentor's group.

Share your training

  • Instagram Story / WhatsApp Status format, alongside the existing share card, both linking back to a public page for that specific activity
  • Weekly and monthly recap cards — redesigned with real sport-specific iconography, shareable the same way
  • Fixed a handful of real bugs here too: a missing logo, text getting cut off mid-sentence, and a captured photo silently disappearing from the shared image on Safari

Training plan intelligence

  • Course-aware plans — upload a GPX of your actual race course and your weekly plan adapts its workouts to the real elevation profile, not a flat assumption
  • Fixed steady runs being mislabeled as "warm-up" in analysis and scored on the wrong pace
  • Fixed short recovery laps disappearing from interval analysis, and a cooldown getting misclassified as a work rep
  • Gimo can now pull your real per-km splits on demand instead of estimating them

Quietly-wrong bugs, found and fixed

Three separate spots were computing "today" or "this week" using UTC instead of IST — which activity matched which workout, which week a challenge counted toward, and which week/month your stats rolled up into. All three are fixed now, and past data was repaired, not just the code going forward.

Also in the last 12 days

  • Coach comments on individual activities
  • Gimo can file a workout change request for your coach to approve, not just suggest one
  • 10 Mile, 20 Mile, and 50K added as race goal types
  • A public marketing page and a public News & Updates section (you're reading it)
  • Dashboard mileage chart gets a Week/Month/Year toggle; HR zone chart gets a stacked-box view
  • Notifications and Gimo's chat history now load in pages instead of all at once
  • Coaches can't delete their own account until their athletes are reassigned
  • Removed the "Powered by Strava" badge and finished the legal rename to ViaraNexus
  • Extended how long we hold onto your Strava data after disconnect, from 24 hours to 7 days (Strava's own policy allows up to 30)
  • A long tail of native-app polish — notch/Dynamic Island collisions, blurry icons, iOS text-input zoom — and bug fixes you'll never see, which is the point

Same as last time: almost everything above started as feedback someone in this group sent me. Keep it coming.

Thanks for sticking with this a full month in.

— Vijay
