Three Weeks In
GIM went live for this group on August 2nd. In the three weeks since, almost every piece of it has been rebuilt, tuned, or fixed off the back of what you all reported — from real training plans and an AI assistant, to a lap-analysis bug that was quietly wrong for basically every interval run. Here's the rundown.
90+ updates shipped in 21 days — 7 major additions, and 1 silently-wrong bug found, fixed, and re-verified across every affected activity.
AI-generated weekly training plans
Your coach can now generate a full week of periodized training in one click — built around your race goal, current fitness, and how last week actually went. Every week comes with a short note explaining why: why the load is building or backing off, why the hard day landed where it did.
- Give feedback on any workout (felt great, too hard, injury, schedule conflict) — next week's plan adapts to it
- Strength days now come with real, phase-appropriate exercise programming, not just a label
- Coaches can drop in a one-off note for a specific week — e.g. "no running, doctor's orders" — and the plan swaps in mobility/strength work on those days automatically
- Logging an activity on a scheduled rest day now gets flagged, with a note on why rest matters
Meet Gimo
A chat assistant that actually knows your training. Ask about your zones, last week's load, or how a session compared to your plan, right from the panel — it knows your data and GIM itself, replies stream in as they're written, and it remembers the conversation so you don't have to repeat context.
Interval analysis, done properly
Interval runs used to be smeared across flat 1km splits — a 400m repeat workout just looked like a blurry average. GIM now reads your watch's actual lap data: real work reps, real recovery jogs, warm-up and cool-down all accounted for, with a color-coded pace chart you can filter by run or recovery.
We also found and fixed a bug that was silently dropping heart-rate lap data for almost every synced run since laps first shipped — not specific to intervals, it affected lap accuracy plan-wide. That's fixed, retroactively, for every affected activity.
Real maps, better stats, faster lists
- The flat route "line" is gone — every GPS activity now shows a real, pannable/zoomable map, plus a direct link to view it on Strava
- Activity stat tiles are tighter and now include total time and calories
- Your HR zone chart shows the actual bpm range for each zone, not just a label
- Your activity list loads instantly even with months of history, with filters and side-by-side comparison of up to 3 runs
No Strava? Import it manually
Athletes (and coaches, on an athlete's behalf) can now import a GPX or TCX file exported from any watch or app — no Strava connection required. We also caught and fixed a case where a GPX missing time data would silently fabricate a pace instead of telling you why it couldn't compute one.
A real notification inbox
Every notification GIM sends — workout results, rest-day flags, weekly recaps — now also lands in an in-app inbox behind the bell icon in the header. If push notifications are off on your phone, or you just missed one, it's still waiting for you there.
Privacy, security, and playing by Strava's rules
Formal Privacy & Security and Terms & Conditions pages are live (accepting the terms is now required at signup). We tightened exactly how and when your Strava data gets deleted on disconnect, and brought the whole Strava integration in line with Strava's own API review requirements — GIM only ever syncs via webhook, never by polling your account.
Also in the last three weeks
- Install prompt — GIM now offers to install itself to your home screen
- Icon fixes — several rounds of squashing blurry installed-app icons on iOS/macOS
- New app icon — rebranded to the current GIM mark
- Bottom tab bar — primary navigation moved for one-thumb use on mobile
- Faster navigation — loading skeletons and a persistent header across pages
- Coach tools — force-disconnect an athlete's Strava, edit workout type inline
- Reminder timing — fixed crons showing the wrong day's workout under delay
- Weekly/monthly recaps — fixed a day-of-week mislabeling bug
- Athlete confirmation — confirm a past-due workout as missed before the nightly sweep
- A long tail of crash fixes — and performance work you'll never notice, which is the point
Almost everything above started as feedback someone in this group actually sent me — keep it coming. If something looks off or you want GIM to do something it doesn't yet, I want to hear about it.
Thanks for being early on this with me.
